A few days ago, extreme athlete Achim Heukemes and his colleague Doreen Glomb started a very special charity run. Their goal was to climb 8,848 meters, the height of Mount Everest, in a 24-hour flight of stairs. The action took place on the Möhneseeturm near Dortmund, the tower is 38 m high and has 206 steps. The two extreme athletes each climbed the tower 233 times and thus cracked the height of the highest mountain in the world in a record time of 23 hours, 23 minutes and 23 seconds.
This unusual campaign served a good cause and was very well received in the region.
