Even before Corona, the prospects for a secure standard of living in old age were not exactly rosy for many citizens. The news was literally bursting with reports on the subject of old-age poverty and it is a fact that more and more men and women, despite many years of employment, are living on the subsistence level or are even poor in retirement age. The pension is simply not enough to cover the cost of living and not everyone lives in their own property, has saved up a cushion or has access to assets or special payments.
